I had no idea this was (finally) about to be released.  And to think I considered picking up Knife of Dreams this week… tisk tisk, I should know better.

Hopefully George R. R. Martin knows how to finish a story.  I have faith.

But hasn't he split his fourth part of the trilogy(!) into 2 books each following a different set of characters, the second not to be released until next year. In which case a Feast of Crows definately won't finish the story.

Nice to meet you in Essen by the way. It seems like you all had a good time.

You're a better man than I if you are still pushing forward on that Jordan stuff....I'm still recovering from Book 5, I believe (exhibit A in how to completely stagnate both the plot and character development for 900 pages..truly a transcendent performance in that regard)..

But I'm totally excited now about the Martin book. This had totally slipped under my radar as well. Too cool.

I broke down and picked up the Jordan. The reviews I had seen said, "It doesn't suck." Which would be a definite improvement. 1/5th of the way in, and, meh.

I just hope I can remember what is going on with Martin's series when Feast arrives.

I read the Martin about a month ago. (that's when it came out over here). This totally sh**s all over Jordan. I only read that series to book 5 and if I ever have to read another book where a woman tugs on her braid because "men are stupid" again I will go mental. Some of the characters in Feast for Crows will be in the next book (Arya, for example) but yes, it's goin to be a whole 'nother book til we find out what happens to Cersei and Jaime again.

My crows book shipped from Amazon today, so I'll see it in a day or so. I'll report back when I finish, but I'm certainly optimistic. The last book sure left me hanging.

I'm really disappointed about Jordan - it could have gone so much better. Adam, your characterization of the last few books fits my perspective perfectly.
