This went under my radar, but a recent post in the BGG forums brought it to my attention.  Check out this crayon rails implementation for Windows XP courtesy of Bret Mulvey.  This looks very well done, but I haven’t had a chance to play a whole game yet.

Chris,

You should try it. The game generates a random map, as many computer players as you need and Crayon Rails with umpteen destinations. I've played it about 10 times now and won about 30% of them, but the ease with which you highlight the options makes the computer version so easy to use. And there's virtually no down time.

Thanks Alan. I played a game while driving out to the coast this weekend and had a blast playing the NW. I lost, but by only a single point. Decent AI in the game and the automation of money management is nice. I also like the decent localization of goods.
