Looks like I have permission from Plenary Games, publisher of the fine Fresh Fish game, to resume development work of the Windows-based implementation of the game I started last year.

Now, I'm not sure how much time I have available to work on this, but I certainly do have a to-do list of items to work on that includes:

  • Building an AI for solitaire play.
  • Including peer-to-peer or server-based network play for multiplayer.
  • Improving the interface to look more like a game and not a Windows business app.

I've maintained this as open source from the start, and am willing to push it out to Sourceforge or something similar if there are others out there interested in collaborating.  Just let me know.

I'd love to help out. I've been messing around with a C# version of Settlers of Catan which I've never finished, so this would be fun too! :-)

I can only help with testing, but I am looking forward to giving it a go. Is there any way to port it to a PBW interface? That would be more usable.
I thought the interface was good. I saw no practical reason to change it.

My brother and I worked on a version of Hammer of the Scots (just for the two of us so we could play..never have enough time to play ftf). We looked at a peer to peer implementation but with the proliferation of routers/firewalls, this ain't easy. So we settled on a server based design. Of course we never finished it, but I think you would be better off going down that road (also I think it would be a more flexible design for future web-based versions).

But I'm certainly no expert on this stuff...

Jason: I'll contact you offline about some joint development.

Iain: PBW would be possible, and is where I eventually want to go. I'll keep you posted but don't expect anything too soon.

Mike: I agree - server-based for real-time network play is much better.

Would love to help playtest if you need people. Thanks. Ben (Byron Harris's bro)

I for one love the current interface. Turning it to more gamelike would be sad indeed. Please keep that low on the to-do list. AI players, in the other hand, would be much appreciated. Of course, I know nothing about C, C++ or C#, so I'm useless there. I can test it, however.
