We are in Seaside, Oregon at the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation state tournament. The boys are each tied for 1st place after 4 rounds in their respective intermediate divisions. You can follow my photostream to see pictures I'm uploading from the iPhone.

We left the rolling hills of the coastal farming belt in the Western Cape to begin winding through the mountain passes of the Great Escarpment and the ranges...
We left Cape Town with a prime directive: find the endemic and highly localized Cape rockjumper as we wandered east along the Cape coast.
We pulled into Cape Town ready for a respite and two nights in the same bed.
We made the relatively easy border crossing from Namibia back into South Africa and started our journey south along the country’s west coast.
