This fellow was very tame and almost encouraged us to come closer. We saw him during some short hikes first day in the Needles District.

Julie spotted the small rattler and I spotted the butterfly.

Texas and Louisiana

I crossed Texas west to east without getting on an interstate. Didn’t feel slowed down and the enjoyment ratcheted up.

I started my eastward journey yesterday morning, sadly without Julie. She flew to NY the night before to help take care of her ailing father.
