Golf and Grandson - Quick Trip to Napa
I flew back solo to Sacramento, taking a Lyft to our house as my e-Bike (plus rides from Jacob) would be all the transportation I’d need for the long weekend. I was in town for Jacob’s member-guest golf tournament at Napa Valley CC and to reunite with his family.
Golfing!
Jacob and I have been on a golf playing and golf improvement journey together for six years now. He (and Kaitlin) lived here at Keuka for about 2 months during the pandemic and we started playing more here, and started watching more pro golf. We quickly became golf sickos. Having more time to play and past experience (I played a lot from age 13-17) my improvement journey went more quickly than Jacob’s. He is rapidly catching up since joining NVCC.
Jacob tees off as we compete in the horse race
A member-guest tournament is a special event with a rough template that is probably followed by most clubs in the US. I won’t get into the details - if you know, you know, and if you don’t you probably don’t care. We did pretty well - almost very well - but most importantly we had fun playing and competing together. Most of the time we are opposing each other as we are often the two best players in a foursome so we pair up with others.
Shucking corn with Rory
The golf was fun but the Rory time was even better. We did all the things: I dropped him off and picked him up from school, we went birding along the Napa river, visited three different playgrounds, did a bike ride around town, and built a play-set together (Jacob helped too). Best of all: Jacob and Rory join us here at the lake in under a week.
